Black History Month: Angels on Diamond Street Documentary Film Watch Party

February 21 @ 3:30 pm 5:00 pm

The heart of our festivities continues with the “Angels on Diamond Street” Documentary Film Virtual Watch Party on February 21 at 3:30 p.m. This gripping film showcases three courageous women fighting for social justice within an African American church in North Philadelphia. It’s more than just a story; it’s an invitation to transcend boundaries and cultivate action.

With figures like Mamie, the head cook; Barbara, a volunteer, and former Black Panther; and Pastor Renee leading us through their daily acts of kindness at the Church of the Advocate (a site with deep roots in civil rights history), we’re offered an intimate glimpse into true communal spirit. When Carmela, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, seeks sanctuary, she’s welcomed warmly—an embodiment of the church’s prevailing overarching inclusion. Prepare to be moved by this 88-minute journey into the lives of individuals who exemplify empowerment through compassionate action.
